These are hand-made in the Himalayas by families i have known for many years. It was a chance to try the ikat technique which was previously unused in that part of the world. Ikat means that each thread is dyed individually to reflect the design before being woven. Each shawl takes a few weeks to complete and each Kashmiri weaver embroiders his signature on the corner of the shawl. It is an art and I’m so grateful to be involved with such talent.
