Trunk – Neutral
The inspiration for this rather wonderful textured fabric was visiting the atelier of a master craftsman in Paris – a Meilleur Ouvrier, as they say in France. Famous for producing the finest leather since the early 1900s, the family firm made trunks and travelling cases which could be seen strapped onto the earliest touring motor cars. The special quality of the leather was made by cutting the surface and then varnishing. I have recreated the same bounce and pleasing texture but using threads on a silk warp. We think it would be ideal for covering dining chairs and might make fabulous curtains as well.
